Sweatpants made with hanging fleece.
This fleece fabric is slowly knitted on a hanging knitting machine that still exists in Wakayama Prefecture.It is so inefficient that only 1 meter can be knitted per hour, but on the flip side, it has a texture that can only be produced on a hanging knitting machine and the material remains good even when worn for a long time.
The items are made from hanging fleece and are product dyed using persimmon tannin dyeing and kudzu dyeing, both of which have been popular in Japan since ancient times.
The dyeing process creates an accent with a difference in texture between the fleece and nylon tape, as well as a prickly feel, adding depth to the item.
Persimmon tannin dyeing is a method of dyeing fabric using the juice of harvested persimmons that has been left to mature for over three years, while Kurezome is a dyeing technique in which persimmon tannin dyed fabric is mordant-treated with water containing iron to turn it black.
Tannins have deodorizing and anti-odor effects, as well as improving durability and waterproofing.
Because it is hand-dyed, each piece has a different look. The texture, color, and various parts of the product change over time as you wear it, making it an item you can enjoy.
It is also possible to re-dye.
